The Ute's Stuck

The Ute’s Stuck

It’s raining again; it’s broken the drought
The ute’s been stuck for a week, and we can’t get it out.
I’ve tried with a chain, and a block and a rope,
But a hook in the sky would be our best hope!

Come squelch in the mud that will suck off your boot.
We’ll heave and we’ll shove, to un-bog the ute!

Take another truck in, and then there’d be two,
We’d all look like idiots, then what would we do!
We can’t get the firewood. We can’t carry the hay,

and its rego. expires one week from today.

If the ute was much older, and I had a spare
I’d be tempted to give up, and leave the thing there.
The cows have lost interest, and wandered away,

And the tools are beginning to rust on the tray.

It’s good to see pasture, and the creeks are all flowing
But really, we need to get the ute going!
