ABC country radio was running a competition last year called ‘Your Town, Your Song’ and can take credit for getting this first little book started. I entered lyrics for two songs about Yass which have been included in the book. I didn’t win my free trip to Tamworth, but the competition certainly generated a lot of interest - I think they had over 400 entries from all over Australia. There are obviously a lot of people who, like me, have a real affection for their home town.
In ‘This Town" a number of local Yass identities are the subject of my verse and illustrations. Many thanks to them for their co-operation and their patient forbearance. This first book was launched in July 2011.
