We’ve Had Chooks

We brought chooks here,
when we first arrived.
Set up a pen.
Only two survived.

Second time around,
A hen house with style.
We built a high fence.
It was good for a while.

We got lots of eggs,
but chook food cost more,
and shutting them in,
was a bit of a chore.

I think every night,
a fox comes and looks,
We left a gate open.
We’ve had chooks!
